Hide Domainname while login / use alias domainnameHello,
usually when a user logs in a domain he can see the domain name in the windows login-screen (and can select from there if he wants local login or a domain login) Is there a way that I can "rename" the domain name that the users see in the login-screen? So for example my domain name is "myDomain.com" but I want the users to see "ComanyA.com" during the Login-process (of course authentication is against "myDomain.com" - but the user should see "CompanyA.com") We use XP clients with a 2003 Domain thank you Hello Heinz,
The name shown in the drop down list is the netbios domain name and can not be renamed, except you change the complete domain name which i wouldn't suggest. in the user account properties "Lists the available user principal name (UPN) suffixes that may be used to create the user logon name. The list contains the full DNS name of the current domain, the full DNS name of the root domain of the current forest, and any alternative UPN suffixes created through Active Directory Domains and Trusts" Its cheaper than a domain rename or a migration just to change the name people see Anthony http://www.airdesk.com Show quoteHide quote "Heinz" <no@Spam.org> wrote in message news:uVE7gSu$JHA.1248@TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl... > Hello, > > usually when a user logs in a domain he can see the domain name in the > windows login-screen (and can select from there if he wants local login or > a domain login) > > Is there a way that I can "rename" the domain name that the users see in > the login-screen? > > So for example my domain name is "myDomain.com" but I want the users to > see "ComanyA.com" during the Login-process > (of course authentication is against "myDomain.com" - but the user should > see "CompanyA.com") > > We use XP clients with a 2003 Domain > > thank you > > > > >
