I want to setup Win 2003 SBS on a new machine and when set up use ADMT to
migrate the old NT4 server over. I seek a nice basic tutorial on setting up
2003 server and no doubt then I'll have some questions on how to use the
migration tool. If anyone can point me to a tutorial for the first task , I
would be grateful..
My domain is very simple. Just Domain logon for 45 machines. No IIS or
exchange server etc.

You might check out

I suggest you sub to microsoft.public.windows.server.sbs for help. And it
might be a good idea to set it up on a test machine first to play with it.

As far as setting up the SBS 2003 server goes - do not deviate from any of
its setup wizards. Do not try to set up anything in SBS without ensuring
that you're doing it the SBS way, or you will end up with a dog's breakfast,
I assure you. (I have done this myself, and I've been working with
NT/AD/Exchange for years).

Re migrating out of your existing NT4 domain, that's a bit more complicated.
I haven't had much luck with ADMT in the past - and it's been a long time
since I've had to touch NT4, but you may have success with it. I think
you're still going to have to touch every workstation - probably fastest to
disjoin it from the NT domain and then run the /connectcomputer setup wizard
to get it into the new domain (into the correct OU with all the correct GPOs
and so forth).

Best o' luck.

I'm not sure how to proceed as I've never migrated from NT4 to SBS but there
are many people in the sbs newsgroup who have.

microsoft.public.windows.server.sbs

You may want to post your question there as well.

Actually, I am sorry but I gave you the wrong information. I am setting up
windows server 2003 R2 enterprise edition not the SBS.
I guess that he information you kindly gave me doesn't really apply .
Can anyone find me a nice newbie tutorial for the setup of this ?
Many thanks,
