How to display the real service name? This question concerns all Win NT platforms in general.
In "Administrative Tools" > "Service" console, we have five columns (Name, Description, Status, Startup Type, Log On As) However, the Name column doesn't display the *real* service name. It just displays service "Display name" (ie a label). For example, "Remote Procedure Call (RPC)" is actually called RpcSs, and this name is identical no matter what UI language is used. I supports users in different languages (English and French), and it's hard for me to tell them what service to check unless I have the same language version under my eyes. And I have to tell my users to check on EVERY service to display the real name. This is very tedious! So, my question is very simple. Is there a method to add a column in the console to display the REAL service name? No you cannot ; however, you should try Service+ from Active+
Software. It is a great tool that let you see the service name and many other service properties. Regards, Vincent Thanks for your reply.
