MS Windows Small Business Server 2003 Standard EditionCan someone explain to me how MS Windows Small Business Server 2003 Standard
Edition - Complete package - 1 server, 5 clients - STD - CD/DVD works legally, is it your allowed to install it on 5 systems, or 5 users log'd in at the same time? It means you are allowed to have 1 server instance (1 server computer) and
that it can support up to 5 concurrent client connections. -- Show quoteHide quoteArek Iskra MVP for Windows Server - Software Distribution "Backup" <bac***@yahoo.com> wrote in message news:%23MoMECIMFHA.3228@TK2MSFTNGP12.phx.gbl... > Can someone explain to me how MS Windows Small Business Server 2003 > Standard Edition - Complete package - 1 server, 5 clients - STD - CD/DVD > works legally, is it your allowed to install it on 5 systems, or 5 users > log'd in at the same time? > Thank you,

If you need more clients connected, you buy more client access licenses, CALs. See your dealer for pricing and packages available. I think SBS is limited to 50 total. It doesn't matter how
many workstations are connected to the network, but only 5 people can log in at one time, thats including remote as well. Now, lets say I reach that limit (which will be very soon), what error will come up once that 6th person tries to log in? SUS setup for patch manamgnet on SBS, and it could server all of your clients without any restriction because they access the SUS service anonymously, as they are supposed to. Not to take away from what you were saying about the difference between vpns and LAN clients, but just to clarify how seemingly simply licensising rules can actually be quite complex! Tim Elhajj OK. Got another question. If I purchased another server and put 2k3SBS
with 5 cals on the box, added it to my domain, would that give me a total of 10 user cals for the domain?
