Slow browsing shared folder(s) after Server 2003 upgradeWe just went from a Windows 2000 Server to a Windows 2003 Server. Ever
since upgrading to 2003 Server, (I don't mean that we did an actual "upgrade", we wiped the server clean then installed 2003), browsing to a shared folder which contains LOTS of word docs or excel spreadsheets takes forever (We have all Windows XP PRO Workstations). What I mean is, when I finally get to the folder in question and double-click on it, I just get a blank explorer window with the little flashlight for about 15-20 seconds before it displays the files within the folder. This delay never happened with the 2000 Server. DNS is setup properly, but I was wondering if installing WINS would help at all. Any comments / suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. I'm curious on this one. We have a similar issue but it's only with one user
and it is inconsistent so far. The client machione is Win2K Pro connecting to Win2003 server. It is especially slow when trying to save an office doc to a shared drive.
