Workstation file errors due to Server CAL limitsIs there way know that a workstation is being denied access to file
resources on the server due to CAL limitation being hit? I don't believe even the event log records this fact. What happens if the Licensing Service is not running are there still built in limit? Best regards, Michael ValeCruz In news:%23lzyVl$rGHA.652@TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl, Michael ValeCruz <mvalecr***@mcyber.com> typed:> Is there way know that a workstation is being denied access to file I stop and disable the licensing service on all my servers, and most people > resources on the server due to CAL limitation being hit? What's happening that makes you ask? More info might help you get an answer.... I represent a software company that our product run in a client/server
environment. Our product opens and close files to read and write data. Randomly I have seem an error message that occurs in our ability to access the data. Our product errors out and user restart the program and program attempt to access the data again and is successful. What happens is that our custom calls us up and complains about the error and then it my job to go in and determined what happened. Most of the time I believe it the server generating the error due to License Limitation. Rarely I have found it to be hardware issue except once when I determined they were trying to access files wireless and packets were getting dropped which truely caused data access errors. I am no MCSE but I have been dealing with Microsoft and Novell servers for the past 16 years. Question when Licensing is not being run on a standard file server but is running on the domain controller is that controlling the licensing being done on the file server? It'd be good to find out whether the same errors occur when the service is disabled, if you have that option. Sorry I can't offer any more specific help.
