basic lack of understanding (mine)

I'm trying to better understand the licensing for win2k3 server.

Ideally, I'd like to purchase one VERY POWERFUL, perhaps dual processor,
definite dual powersupply/raid5 computer, that runs win23kserver as an
exchange server
for me, my family,(diverse around the nation)  and a few acquantainces and
co-workers....

through this, I hope to encourage my family to do backups onto the network
shares
I supply them- and we can use the outlook collaboration tools- and I can
learn more
about running 2k3 server...

for everyone but me, it would seem a per device license would be
appropriate, but for myself,
I'd like to do the equivelant of remote desktop into the server from
wherever I happen to be
that I can reach a high speed internet connection....  can I mix- can I set,
one user license
and then device licenses?

or-  will the 'terminal services' allow one user (me) to connect from
anywhere, and the rest
of the users be device licenses.....

Currently, I use the tsweb enabled remote access activex plugin to get to my
desktop (on xppro)
from wherever...  I'd like this functionality when I make my server
purchase.

I cannot conciveve of ever breaking the 75 users license limit,(I'm thinking
10 to start,
with a potential max of 50) so I expect to get w2k3 server small business
edition.....

any pointers on where I can read up on this? a general-  'read this before
you ask' site?

last question-  with a sufficiently fast connection-  with w2k3 server&
xppro combo-
is it possible to up the maximum of "make network files available offline"
Gb size
to whatever limit I desire? ideally, I'd like to take my moms machine, and
put all her files on
my server, and set all programs to 'start in' \\myserver\mom\'  so that so
long as my server is running,
and the connection is good, she saves stuff to the share (which I'll be
backing up regularly) but if there is an issue, she still
has local copies to work with, that will mirror back when it's fixed, and
it's realtively transparent to her other than the popup bubble....

thanks
