I have some users that when they are trying to open a document from the
server (using Word 2000) on our server (Server 2000).
The document hangs for an extremely long time.
The system becomes extremly unstable, and says that Word is not responding.
At the same time, they are generally not connecting to the mail server
(Exch. 2000, on the same box).
The users have XP.
Thanks

mostly happens due to misconfiguration of office settings
check the options under the tools menu in office for the clients who
have this problem (word/excel/outlook)
especially check the templates folder assignments in word

not really, you can point to where ever
off course, that place does have to exist and preferrably contain some
real life templates
otherwise, what's the point?

you can set this via GPO, or manually thru the GUI of office

there are two (if I am not mistaken), the group templates and the user
templates
both locations have to exist for real and both options need to contain
a value (path to share or folder)
