Security Configuration Wizard - Cannot apply Security Policy ErrorI'm just finishing rolling out SCW to all my servers and configuring them. It's been working _very_ well. Except on one server. On this one server I try and apply the policy and I get the message: Cannot Apply Security Policy The Security Configuration Wizard cannot continue because the security policy could not be applied to the selected server. Problem: unspecified error When I view the log file, I see that the error is in the Extension Microsoft.OS.Services. It says : HRESULT 0x80070005 Error Configuring C:\WINDOWS\security\msscw\ConfigureFiles\Services.inf Access is denied. HRESULT 0x80070005 Cannot complete extension processing: Microsoft.OS.Services Access is denied. The machine is Windows Server 2003 Enterprise with SP1, just like all my other servers. I'm running McAffe Viruscan 8.5 on the server. I'm really kind of stumped. 1 out of 37 servers. Any Thoughts ? did you try to reinstall the component?
if that's not working you can transform the policy into a GPO and apply it to the server. to do that run the scwcmd Show quoteHide quote "Michael Martel" <Michael Mar***@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:37913D0B-9C8D-47CE-B715-43059D9E4E0F@microsoft.com... > Greetings! > > I'm just finishing rolling out SCW to all my servers and configuring them. > It's been working _very_ well. tried again, same thing. Used Process Monitor from Sysinternals and didn't see anything obvious. I can navigate to the directory and edit the files in question, so it's not a file Access denied message. I'll have to look into setting it up as a GPO. Thanks.
