Roaming ProfilesWe are using Windows Small Business Server 2003 and are Migrating to Windows
Standard Server 2003 R2. Currently we are using local profiles. But I want to start using roaming profiles because people in this company desk hop. The problem is when I go to a users local machine and attempt to change the profile type to Roaming Profile that selection is not available (greyed out) and Delete and Copy to are also disabled and unavailable. Is there a group policy on the server that needs to be modified to allow roaming profiles. I've searched high and low and can't seem to come up with the solution!!! Has anyone else experienced this. I thought the idea of the roaming profile was long gone with the advent of
folder redirection. If you use Group Policy thingy to set folder redirection on users desktop and 'My Documents' it will have the same effect. They'll have to copy their documents to a local drive first mind, then copy them back after you have implemented the change. THere is probably a smarter way of doing it, but I'm not that smart Show quoteHide quote "rcolving" <rcolv***@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:FBD7F2CA-7853-4DBF-9FDF-15CF2D71CFA6@microsoft.com... > We are using Windows Small Business Server 2003 and are Migrating to > Windows > Standard Server 2003 R2. I'm aware of the redirection. However, I need the desktop settings to follow
the users and don't want to make everyone a user on every computer. you already know. But set it in Active Directory Users, not on the local computer. You need a Domain Controller, computers installed into the domain, etc, as part of your migration. -- Show quoteHide quoteDave "rcolving" <rcolv***@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:B0FEB7B2-A2A4-4CDE-A6DB-6AC408128A44@microsoft.com... > I'm aware of the redirection.
