Unable to explore local C:\ DriveWhen I try to explore the C:\drive on a Server 2003 it hangs for a bit and
then gives me the folowing msg:- These files are Hidden. This folder contains files that keep your system working properly. You should not modify its content. No Chnages has been made except for Microsoft Automatic updates. I can explore other drives but just not the C:\drive. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on why this is happening? Any advice is appreciated. What happens if you click over in the blue right-hand pane?

Thanks Dave for your help but I still can't explore C:\ Drive. I have tried
installing a new Malware Cleaner and while doing a scan in freezed on me and needs to reboot. After rebooting the 2003 server it took about 20 minutes to come up. Any ideas? Is there such thing as a restore point for server 2003? cause the server to hang for about 15 minutes when i try exploring C:\drive. As per Andrew's advise for the cacls command, this is the output:- BUILTIN\Administrators:F BUILTIN\Administrators:(OI)(CI)IO)F NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM:F NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM:(OI)(CI)IO)F CREATOR OWNER:(OI)(CI)IO)F BUILTIN\Users:R BUILTIN\Users:(OI)(CI)IO)(special access:) GENERIC_READ GENERIC_EXECUTE BUILTIN\Users:(CI)(special access:) FILE_APPEND_DATA BUILTIN\Users:(CI)(IO)(special access:) FILE_WRITE_DATA Everyone:R Show quoteHide quote "Dave Patrick" wrote: > What happens if you logon as a new user? > > -- > > Regards, > > Dave Patrick ....Please no email replies - reply in newsgroup. > Microsoft Certified Professional > Microsoft MVP [Windows] > http://www.microsoft.com/protect > > "Minga" wrote: > | Thanks Dave for your help but I still can't explore C:\ Drive. If not, start a command prompt and enter the command cacls \ the output of which should include at least BUILTIN\Administrators:(OI)(CI)F NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM:(OI)(CI)F which means administrators and the system have full control. If it doesn't, then please report back and hopefully someone will help you with the syntax for cacls to add them (you definitely want the /E option). Andrew Andrew,
This the output I recieved:- BUILTIN\Administrators:F BUILTIN\Administrators:(OI)(CI)IO)F NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM:F NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM:(OI)(CI)IO)F CREATOR OWNER:(OI)(CI)IO)F BUILTIN\Users:R BUILTIN\Users:(OI)(CI)IO)(special access:) GENERIC_READ GENERIC_EXECUTE BUILTIN\Users:(CI)(special access:) FILE_APPEND_DATA BUILTIN\Users:(CI)(IO)(special access:) FILE_WRITE_DATA Everyone:R When I try to do a virus scan on it for Malware the system crashes at a certain stage and will not go on any further. Could this be some sort of virus or malware in the system?
