Still fighting folder permissionsI want to create a folder on my 2003 server, shareit, and grant read only
permissions to all users. Then I want to create sub-folders which may have different permissions. For instance, I want to create a subfolder which is read-only to all but one user who I want to have full access. I want to do this without sharing this sub-folder, just by creating permissions on the security tab but I don't seem to be able to do this. No matter what I do on the security tab for the sub folder, it remains read only to all users. Is what I want to do possible ? Could you not just add the user in the security tab under the subfolder full
permission? As I said in my post, even after giving the user full access in the security
tab section, they cannot write to the sub-folder. Show quoteHide quote "Trimelater" wrote: > Could you not just add the user in the security tab under the subfolder full > permission? As I said in my post, after adding the user and granting full access under

sure that the user is also added and has Change and read permission. The end result, you should have the user in the security tab with full permission and in the Sharing Tab under permission, that user should also have Full or change and read permission. Are you talking about the Subfolder sharing permissions ? I am trying to
avoid creating tons of shares. Recap: Folder -- Shared to everyone with just read only set. Sub-folder -- Not shared but added specific user with Full access using the security tab. With the above, the specific user cannot write to the folder. Dave,
Thanks for being patient with my answers. I have created your scenerio and was able to produce your issue. Example scenerio setup. Folder- Security tab has userA that has read only permission The Share Tab->Permission->Everyone currently has read only Sub Folder under Folder has userA that has full permission. You are not able to write to this subfolder. What you must do is: The Share Tab->Permission->Everyone must have change and read permission under the "Folder" that you shared. You do not need to share any subfolders. I tried this and it works. Let me know if you have any further questions.
