I'm in the middle of a project to migrate all our Networking Services from
Novell to Microsoft Win2003 - AD.

I am at the point where I am beginning to move the FileServing service
across to Win2003 boxes.

What's the best practice for the default shares (C$, D$ ....).
Should I disable these??

Regards
Dave

There is no definitive best practice for these shares, they are hidden by
default. You can either restrict access to the hidden shares to specific
users or groups or alternatively if you want to be extra secure you can
delete them. The following link should prove useful to you:

http://www.petri.co.il/disable_administrative_shares.htm

Paul.
