I have gotten the Group Policy issue fixed, now on to problem 2. I chose the
domain name gamerskeep.net as the domain, since I have that one registered
online; all is good as far as DNS forwarding is concerned, however, the DC
does run 3 kinds of server right now, IRC, BBS, Game. now, the cnames I had
made via the registrars DNS edit was IRC.GAMERSKEEP.NET -> IRC Server,
BBS.GAMERSKEEP.NET -> BBS, D2.GAMERSKEEP.NET -> Game. Externally, they work
fine, internally, they dont resolve. Also, there is an external
www.gamerskeep.net site since its hosted on my regitrars server, this
doesn't resolve anymore either. I have tried creating both ANames and CNames
under SERVER->Forward Lookup->DOMAIN and have had no luck. suggestions?

Hi

You need to create the gamerskeep.net forward lookup zone and then with in
that zone add the following HOST A records

irc
bbs
d2

Point them to the relevant IP address hosting those services and that should
be it, you may need to flush dns cache to make sure there are no old
incorrectly cached lookups. Also make sure all clients only point to your
internal dns and not your ISP - this includes the server

Regards

Simon

Do you have a forwarder configured on your DNS server or are you using Root
Hints?  Or both?

You haven't forgotten to run an ipconfig /flushdns on the problem client
have you?  If you haebv already done this, then disregard.  We need more
details on your setup.  Can you please provide the following information:

1) Domain name from Active Directory Users & Computers MMC
2) List of all Forward Lookup Zones in the DNS MMC
3) Output of ipconfig /all from the problem machine(s)  (an unedited
version - please do not make any changes)

That looks good.  In the gamerskeep.net zone, just make an A record called
www pointing to 64.202.163.124.  Delete the CNAME record.   What's happening
is, you have a CNAME in your internal AD zone, and a CNAME in the external
zone, and the DNS revolver client gets confused.  Internally for AD, the
gamerskeep.net name must point at the domain controller holding the SYSVOL
share for the domain.   Just make a host record for the external IP host in
your AD/DNS zone (A record called www pointing to 64.202.163.124) of
gamerskeep.net and it will work.
