Odd behavior with Extended File Properties
Lou O'Quin -
21 Jul 2005 5:14 PM - 2 messages
First the background: We have a Windows 2003 Server, holding, among other things, about 100,000 TIF document files. In order to ensure that our Sharepoint server properly indexes the documents, we copy certain of the TIF tag data to extended file property fields automatically, as a part of a document "check in" process. We use dsofile.dll, downloaded from Microsoft, to maintain the extended file properties (which are stored as alternate data streams.) (We COULD enter it manually from the summary window of the file properties as well.) The summary fields we update include Title, Subject, Category, Keywords, Comments, Source, Author, and Revision Number. Each file then has at least two alternate data streams, holding the summary data and category data. ...

Windows 2003 SP1 NTbackup
travis649 -
21 Jul 2005 12:39 PM - 12 messages
Hey all
Since SP1 for windows 2003 server has come along, ntbackup seems to be
having difficulties once again. Here is a recent log from one of my
clients new servers. This used to happen before sp1 came out but was
resolved in early 2004 with Microsofts error article KB817688. I have
been in contact with Microsoft and have paid the shocking fee of $297
for there support but so far they seem to be dumbfounded. I use Sony
AIT Tape drives as backup devices which have always worked perfectly.
I spoke to sony about the error and they were also dumbfounded and
said it was a Microsoft problem. As you are all probably aware,
Windows 2003 is now shipping WITH SP1 already included so
uninstallation is not possible.
